I tried sleeping without pillows, with my head hanging over pillows, circling my head round and round gently, but none of these things gave me relief.
In the end I phoned a chiropractor based in Edinburgh and made an appointment.
I wish I had done that first thing!
She took a look at me standing and read my like a book – one hip higher than the other here, a shoulder out of place there. Throw in a kink in my back and the neck seemed to be the least of my worries.
After a few minutes gentle moving of my limbs she took my head in her hands and asked me to relax. The chiropractic couch was comfy enough and with my head now being gently moved from side to side I was ready to drift off.
She twisted my neck and I heard the deepest cracks of my life coming from inside of my head – then the same on the other side as she twisted my neck quickly. Immediately I felt a release, a smile came across my face, almost a delirium. I felt very, very happy in that instant. Wow!
I could move my neck – a little bit of tenderness, but that left after a few minutes.
Seeing a chiropractor is something I would highly recommend.
